The article is a short read, but I really wanted to point out the link mid-article called "We Got Nailed By the Cops." It's a great read in comparison to a chilling conversation I had with friends last night about local crime!

The follow-up story by the photog/editor is priceless and hits upon a memory.
My absolutely least favorite part of being a journalist was approaching accident sites to take photos. As a rule, distant shots are OK but up-close--featuring deputies and whatnot--are better. And there's nothing worse than having someone who has just been in an accident, who is perhaps crying on the side of a road and feeling helpless, look at you with a face that isn't so much anger as "What are you doing? Why aren't you helping?"
I would make a terrible war photog. That's a place I'm not willing to take myself, mentally.
Ooh, really? You had to do that? I would absolutely feel the same way. "Oh, you are miserable! That will make a fantastic photograph!" ::snap::
